The Best Old Fashioned Molasses Cookies
A favorite of young and old alike. Whether you’re dipping them in coffee, enjoying them with a cold glass of milk… or just enjoying every bite by themselves, Old Fashioned Molasses cookies are really hard to beat. I hear Santa really loves them too!
Preheat oven to 350 degrees. This recipe makes 48+ cookies
Ingredients
- 2 Large Eggs
- 1 1/3 cup of Coconut oil (low heat) melted.
- 2 cups of sugar.
- 2/3 cup of unsulphured molasses.
- 3 teaspoons of organic cinnamon
- 3 teaspoon ground ginger
- 1 teaspoon nutmeg
- 1 teaspoon Kosher salt
- 4 teaspoon baking soda
- 4 1/2 cups of unbleached flour (all purpose will work).
- additional 1/2 cup of sugar mixed with 1 Tablespoon of Cinnamon for rolling.
Instructions
- In a small bowl, add 1/2 cup of sugar mixed with 1 Tablespoon of Cinnamon and set aside.
- In a large bowl, beat eggs, oil and sugar and mix thoroughly.
- Add molasses, spices, salt, and baking soda and mix well.
- Add flour and mix thoroughly into a stiff cookie dough.
- Using a Tablespoon, remove enough dough to form a 1″ ball of dough when rolled between your hands.
- Add rolled ball of dough into the small bowl and roll it around to completely cover the dough ball with the sugar and cinnamon mixture.
- Place dough ball on silicone mat or ungreased baking sheet. Allow 3″ spacing apart from each dough ball.
- Repeat process.
- Bake for 10 minutes until golden brown and crinkled on top.
Serve with Milk, Coffee, Tea, or by themselves for a tasty treat from yesteryears! Bon Appetit!!!
